To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Doki-Doki Literature Club. The poems extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of advanced literature, most of the jokes will go over a typical player’s head. There’s also Yuri’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- her personal philosophy draws heavily from Russian literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these poems, to realise that they’re not just abstract- they say something deep about REAL LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike DDLC truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Yuri's existential catchphrase “I WANT TO OPEN YOUR SKIN AND CRAWL INSIDE YOU”, which itself is a cryptic reference to Sakae Esuno's manga series Mirai Nikki !!!this is something i've made up!!!. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
And yes, by the way, i DO have a DDLC tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the Monika’s eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within my own plane of existence (preferably 2d) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎
